I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom the famous quote from Mean Girls, well no mean girl here, just a mom of 4 offering you some Fall Fashion style tips.
So what makes us the cool moms? Whether you are a working mom, a stay at home mom, a work from home mom or not even a mom, it’s difficult to dress on trend without breaking the bank or completely moving out of your comfort zone. While I know biker shorts, heavy leather, monochromatic layers, fanny packs, scrunchies in the hair are all “on trend” are they really you? My guess is probably not. So here I give you some trends that are fashion savvy, on trend, appropriate for the everyday look and don’t break the bank!
Below are my Fall 5 Must Haves to be on trend but still be you!
Style 1: A Simple Blazer: This jacket can be an everyday staple and can be found at any price point ranging from $29.99 (thank you H&M) to the iconic $500 Veronica Beard blazer. If you are a stay at home/work from home mom, throw it on on with jeans, a graphic/band tee or denim shirt and flats.
If you are a working mom, a blazer is perfect for those meetings in the office for that polished look when worn with a favorite blouse/ black slacks, or over a simple dress or jumpsuit.
Style 2: I am woman, hear me ROAR: ANIMAL PRINT! I can’t say enough about leopard prints and snakeskin right now, no matter what, when you throw in that POP of animal print it elevates your style and look. If you don’t love animal print (how dare you 🙂 try starting with a simple belt, if you are into it, go for the shoes, the shirt or even the jacket with print, I have found some amazing animal print pieces at TJ Maxx and Target this season! This fall don’t be afraid to invest in the $100- $200 leopard or snakeskin boot, flat or sneaker, the style is here to stay.
Style 3: Mens style footwear! Whether it is a combat boot, a duckboot, sneakers or loafer, this style has become a statement and can tone down a more feminine or formal outfit (Dr. Martin can thank me later for this one).
Style 4: THE FANNY PACK is BACK! I know I referenced this in my opening but it’s back and as a mom of 4, I am so SO happy about it! Not only is it the easiest “purse” I have ever carried, it’s now the coolest belt or accessory you own, while carrying your phone, lipgloss, and your lady needs, I can even fit a diaper or two in a few of mine. Gucci, Kate Spade, Marc Jacobs, Target, forever 21, Amazon all carry these, so if you want the perfect pack, it’s available for you!
Style 5: The “mom” “boyfriend” “oversized” high rise jean. I used to think “the only people that can actually wear those mom jeans are people who are not moms” not true, don’t pass them by, give them a try!
Finding feasible, trendy and affordable clothes for mom life can be difficult so hopefully these favorite fall trends will help you stack your wardrobe, make you feel that you are wearing what is current, on trend and maybe even make you feel “cool!” So take these tips and channel your inner fashionable self. Next time you are out on a shopping date with a girlfriend or even just at Target to get diapers (yeah right who goes to Target to JUST get diapers:) give these items a shot! The weather is about to get cooler, and with these fall essentials, your wardrobe can too!
