MARCHing towards my 2019 goals…….
When it comes to the new year, January and February are trial months, right? Well it is finally time for me to sit down and think of my 2019 goals.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I can’t sit still. I am always thinking of new businesses and new careers for myself. If you name it, I have most likely done it in terms of career paths, the major pitfall of this “quality” or curse is that I rarely feel like I have done something and really accomplished the end goal. The quote “you can do anything, but not everything” resonates with me. So my new goal now is to focus on what is at hand and what I am doing, rather than to try and do everything.
So I am writing my goals for 2019 here;
#1. Be the best mom I can be (an obvious one right?) Eight years ago I had my first child and since then this has always been my goal, but now, I am going to try to make more memories that my kids will never forget. I find that spending time with my kids, whether it be in the kitchen, on the couch or on the most amazing vacation of all time, my kids are happiest when I am experiencing life with them – so here’s to making more memories and living life alongside of my kids!!!!
#2. Move forward with the potential of ManolosandMinivans. I created this brand (for lack of a better term) because I looked around (the internet) and thought to myself “I eat avocado toast, sometimes put on a cute outfit and drink coffee, I should start a blog” little did I know it is SO much more work than that! But what I have also found is that if you put time, effort and passion into whatever you are delivering, people see the efforts and want to follow along. So my goal is to keep moving forward and see where this will take me.
#3. Family First. This is an easy thing to say but so many times I find myself finding ways to fit my kids, my husband, my work, and even my extended family into my life, but maybe I am going about all of this the wrong way, maybe it is time to immerse into their life, be there when they aren’t making plans and asking me to be there. Maybe it’s as little as letting go of the plan and letting life happen. My husband often says to me, let’s move or let’s try this new business and my worrisome self often says no or now is not the time, maybe it is time to let go, just Go, trust and see what the future holds. Maybe it is also something as simple as waking my kids up on a Saturday morning and saying “what do you want to do today?” and actually doing it.
#4. Make healthier Lifestyle choices. Yes I spend some time at the gym and yes we eat well at home, but there is so much more I could be doing. While at the gym, am I really pushing my body? The answer to that is definitely no! This year I am going to focus on pushing myself to new limits, new workouts, new lifestyle changes, new sleep habits, new books, new podcasts, new anything that will result in small and healthier changes.
#5. Spend less time on social media and more time in the SOCIAL REAL WORLD. While I have no problem unplugging and putting my phone aside when I am out with friends, I spend so much of my day immersed in social media. It’s time to set limits and boundaries and disconnect to reconnect.
I hope you are having a wonderful 2019, and tackling your goals one day at time!
Truth: I am writing this post in March because I just now got around to reflecting on 2018, it’s never too late.
